The Story Chapter 4 - Deliverance

Just a few notes I jotted down while reading chapter 4. Nothing big.

God desires to dwell with his people.

Moses watched the Hebrews slave away. He watched two Hebrew fighting. God saw and heard his people crying out from slavery.

Exodus 3 Moses gives many reasons why he is not qualified. Yet, in Exodus 2 Moses rescued Reuel's daughters from the shepherds. God will use Moses to rescue his people. Moses drew water to water Reuel's sheep. God will use Moses to provide water for his people. Exodus 2:17-22

When God revealed himself to Moses as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Moses immediately hid his face because he was afraid to look at God. Later in the story Moses is directed to speak with God because the people were afraid of God when he appeared on Mt. Sinai. Moses also spoke with God as a man speaks with a friend. His face glowed after their meetings he would have to wear a veil.

Throughout the Old Testament God says that he will do things that will make other nations know it was the Lord. Exodus 6:7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. Exodus 14:4 But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” Exodus 14:18 The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.”

God revealed himself to Moses in a burning bush in Exodus 3 and then He reveals himself to the Israelites and the Egyptians as a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of cloud by night. He then looks down from the pillar of fire and throws the Egyptian army into confusion. Exodus 14:24.

These are just a few things that I caught and thought about as I read chapter four. I tried to give scripture reference in case you weren't sure where to find it.
