In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

  • Author - Luke - same Luke who wrote the Gospel of Luke

  • “to do and to teach” not “teach and do” Jesus acted and then taught

  • Acts recounts what Jesus does through the disciples

  • Theophilus - could be an individual Gentile of high regards that converted to Christianity or possibly a general believer. Means “friend of God.”

  • Jesus taught until the last moments before his ascension

  • Jesus gave instructions not to leave Jerusalem after his ascension.
